Recently all the laptops in our office got attacked by some "autorun" worm.

Here is the source code for these files. The files can be found in %systemroot%\system32\ folder and all infected root drives.

Setup OpenVPN on Windows 2003 Server using bridge mode

OpenVPN is the free open source project of VPN solutions. I installed the GUI version on my windows 2003 server a long time ago. However, I tried hard to configure it that time by following some web tutorial but couldn’t get it to work properly. Today I found two posts in Chinese which help me to finally get it to work.

Shanghai taxi fares rise since May 11, the base fee which covers the first three kilometers increases to 11 yuan from 10 yuan during the day before (11pm), and the price after 11pm jumped to 14 yuan from current 13 yuan.

Besides this, the price for each additional kilometers also rised slightly from 2 yuan to 2.1 yuan.

ChenPress is a WYSIWYG HTML Editor WordPress plugin, it is built on the FCKeditor.
Today I finally get it installed. The original WP 2.0 rich text editor had some issues on some complex formating. Thank to the author W. Chen (a nice Chinese guy )

Poor services in the US

After several times of rolling back to history data and two days totally server outage. Wangjianshuo a famous blogger in Shanghai had been dealing supporting cases with his hosting service provider lunarpages.com which had a very very poor support service. He said the support ticket he opened had no response for more than 56 hours. (Hard to imagine for me, who are going to do business with this vendor). Well, he finally found the quickest way to contact them was via telephone call. Although he’d been asked to stay on hold for 7 mins, he said that was much better than the previous vendor ipowerweb which had told him to wait for 27 mins.

Well, I also think that most of the call centers in states do have a very poor service. I hardly had the patience to wait for about 20 mins to talk to a real person. This happens so frequently, thus interestingly this was regarded as normal and was widely accepted by most Americans.

Speaking of the poor telephone support services, there are some exceptions however I would like to mention here. One example is the Citi Bank who did a series of TV commercials advertising its new call center services, saying that its customers can directly talk to a real person when making a phone call for support. Since I’m not its card user, I’d never tested it. The other example is Godaddy, (It seems I’ve been mention godaddy frequently recently, I promise I’m not advertising here). They actively make phone calls to their customers asking whether they had any questions about using their services when the customers had done any purchases recently. As for myself, I got at least three phone calls from them, however due to timezone difference, I didn’t pick up any of them during my midnight. However they kept trying for 3 midnights continuously. That was amazing for me. And some Americans even couldn’t help shouting out excitedly about that, “Wow, Godaddy called me, which was cool!” (I heard similar expressions in both TWIT and Diggnation podcasts) hehe

Again, with the help from Windix I successfully installed the WP with all the MT entries exported and then imported to WP, including the comments. It was just like a breeze. The whole installation and data migration couldn’t be easier.

Plus, by doing some research on the .htaccess file, also with some help from WP website. I then made changes to the .htaccess file, so that the request to the old MT urls will be redirected to the new WP url. As the example below. They both direct users to the WP new url.

Switched to Godaddy.com

By resesarching for quite a long time, I finally found my ideal host space from Godaddy.com. The ecomony host plan offers 5GB of total web space and 250GB traffic limit per month, with only $3.95/mo for the price.

I also transferring another domain name of mine to Godaddy.com. I registered BillyQiu.com long time ago, however I didn’t go through all the processes of “BeiAn” (Log website owner records to China official registrar) with the current Chinese hosting provider. It had been locked down for almost a year. Currently it is pending original domain registrar confirmation, which takes 5-7 days around.

Much thanks to Windix, who anwered to my early questions about the Godaddy domain and hosting services which helped me greatly to make my final choice to the Godaddy.com.

Xiangyang market will shut down eventually

XIANGYANG Fashion and Gift Market will shut down on June 30 to make way for the city’s traffic construction plans, the market operator said in a post at the entrance of the market today, Xinmin Evening News reported. The Xiangyang market is one of the city’s best known markets, and it is a haven for both domestic and foreign tourists looking for cheap goods and counterfeit products. …. Bravo! It should be shut down years ago I think, coz it was too famous for the counterfeit products at cheap prices and its chaos market in terms of both merchants management and public security of the market. It’s not at all fit into the city image of Shanghai and did damage the reputation of the City.

Arrived in Shanghai Last Night

I arrived at the Pudong Airport of Shanghai (PVG) yesterday night. I took the flight from Korean Airlines once again and got transferred from Ichoen Airport (ICN) Seoul.

My two and a half months business travel to the United States drew to an end. However, I’m glad that I can spend some more time with my families and friends in Shanghai.

I’ve subscribed to Skype-In for three months for a test. I got a good number (915) 440-0XXX. So it looks like a Clint, TX number which begins also as 915-440-XXXX. I tried the bundled voicemail function, when I’m offline and someone call this number, they’ll be automatically forwarded to voicemail. And it works pretty good.

BTW, a little information about the number.
“915″ sounds very much like my chinese name Qiu Yinghua in Chinese or Shanghainese. and 4400 is a very famous US Television Show aired during the season 2004 through 2005. XXX is a good number I like. hehe

I had AIWS too

Tonight Anderson Cooper from CNN reported a lady had a serious AIWS (Alice in Wonderland Syndrome), who sees object smaller then those in reality.

Alice in Wonderland syndrome (AIWS), or micropsia, is a disorienting neurological condition which affects human visual perception.

Subjects perceive objects (including animals and other humans, or parts of humans, animals, or objects) as appearing substantially smaller than in reality. Generally, the object appears far away or extremely close at the same time. For example, a family pet, such as a dog, may appear the size of a mouse, or a normal car may look shrunk to scale.

Small children, usually between the ages of five and ten, form a large proportion of those afflicted by spontaneous temporary micropsia. Micropsia tends to occur during darkness, when the brain lacks visual size references.

I used to often had that when I was young till high school. Now they never come back. CNN also reported that Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll may had suffered from the symdrome as well. And researches also indicate that this syndrome may have something to do with artistic creativities. It is believed that the famous painter Van Gogh may also have had this syndrome.

Well, you know what? That might be a good explanation of my talent in creativity of arts and musics. Oh. I’m just kidding, hehe!

Touchin’ NYC part I
You may think that I should use the title “revisiting new york” or something, since I’ve already been to to the city for more than several times. Well, I’d never felt like I’ve really touched the cities spirit or culture, until today. I planned this two-day touching NYC tour for myself at this weekend. I’m currently in the Kintting Factory music club at 74 Leonardo St (bt. Church St & Broadway). Today is the Saturday. There’s a show at 8pm by a band called … Around 100 people had bought the tickets, which was $15. We are now waiting for the performance to begin. It’s already 20:46 now. There is a delay for no reason. Anyway, hope when they get ready we can enjoy the show.

Knitting Factory is a very nice place, we are now at the main hall, which is at level 3. There two floors underground and another one at the upper level. Don’t know why this place is kinda very familiar. Oh… I remembered it’s much like the Ark Music Bar in Shanghai Xintiandi, but seems 100 ppl is a little crowded here. All other folks are talking loudly since I can’t hear them talking about a specific topic, it’s kinda very noisy. Only me, are standing at a corner near the w ll using the stylus tapping the screen. Anyway, it’s still full of fun.

This morning I eventually been to the real times square and took lots of pictures on the spot.

ABC showed a complete old episode of LOST yesterday night which has been shown in season one. That was really disappointing. Anyway, I won’t miss the next one which seems to be exciting anyway. Something bad happened to the folks with Jack.
